We own an RV repair business. We do NOT have a mobile service, nor do we tow or do anything else "roadside". We get calls all the time from companies offering roadside assistance, and they will not stop calling no matter how many times we tell them this is not a service we offer.
I don't know if consumers are aware that these roadside service programs (I hope they're not PAYING for them) offer nothing they couldn't do themselves. The "assistance" provider may be sitting on the east coast but they look up companies in the area where the motorist needs help, and start calling to get somebody out there. They have no contracts for roadside assistance as far as I'm aware (if they did, they wouldn't be calling us all the time) so they have no better access than that stranded motorist has. These places pester my company on a regular basis, wasting my time and theirs, and leaving their customer waiting that much longer.
