Fraud call - JP Morgan Chase - wanting to close all bank accounts
Got a call and then voicemail purportedly from "Chase Bank Service Department" they left 800-935-9935 as the callback number which is Chase's customer service number...but the number the person called from was 888.844.7979 which a search reveals as a scammer number. The voice sounded like someone from India... and I was on the phone with a Chase rep who was also from India a couple of days ago. This is not that though.
I got a call from 888-844-7979. Said they were from Fraud Dept and 2 Zelle payment were trying to be made. He had me log into my account and select the Pay/Transfer tab and confirm person was not authorized to take money out. Then he wanted me to go to my other bank log in and sign in and allow Pay/Transfer. At that point, I knew it was a scam and told him I wouldn't do it. He said there is a hold on your Chase account and will stay on until you do this. I immediately called Chase and was told my account was fine-no money was trying to be transferred and there was no hold on my account.
Four calls received in the same day. Caller saying they were from Chase wanting to confirm two charges made to my credit card account to be sure I made them and that they were not fraudulent charges. I told them that I couldn't talk at that moment and would call them back. Instead, I called the number on the back of my credit card and confirmed with Chase that no charges were made to my account. The calls I received were scams!

I told him I don’t want to move forward giving him more information. He said he understood and hung up. Now I need to call my card companies.
