888-713-0576 called my work. Said was a debt collector hired by GE Capital to settle a debt. Knew my social security number.
They call almost every day. Message says...Our office has been retained to deliver to you a formal notice in regards to a complaint that has been filed against you and your Social Security number it should have taken place on March 30th of 2020 but due to the covert 19 situation it has been suspended until a future date that is unknown at this moment I will need your signature on file I do believe we have an address discrepancy because this is my 2nd failed attempt to contact you and regards to this matter at your earliest convenience please contact our office at 188-871-3057 extension 6 Or press 2 to speak to it live represented thank you and good luck.
I get a call from this number about 4 times a day 1-888-713-0576 here in Northern Virginia (robocall). Before that a different number was calling with basically the same type of call, with a live voice saying that there is a problem with a SSN and to contact OUR lawyer and call them back or their will be jail time basically. .
Asked if the last four digits of my numbers were correct and my name I said yes that's correct then began to inform me that I had taken out a credit card for $1,600 with First Northern Bank in 2002 and said that I had made payments on it until 2008 when I haven't had a credit card since 1992. When I said I would not settle out of court for $600 they said I would have to appear in court the 17th of this month April and it is already the 13th of this month and I said I have not received any correspondence the representative stated that they were sent to the last known address which was an address I haven't used in 20 years. They said they did when I appear in court the judge could ordered wage garnishment up to 35% of all income associated with my social number which they had the complete number of, stated will see you in court and abruptly hung up. It's a total scam. I don't own credit cards for this very reason.

Recorded call says they have a complaint against my social security number; Court date has been postponed due to COVID. etc. etc. Does NOT have the legal disclaimer "this is an attempt to collect a debt ... etc." Internet search indicates this number belongs to a debt collector. My credit score is 817 and my report is clean as a whistle. I can assure anyone that I have no debt issues. This is undoubtedly a scam. Shame on these people!
