Automated message to lower credit card interest. I pressed 1 to speak with someone. The man with heavy accent and lots of noise in background said that because I have been making my monthly payments that I qualify for a lower interest rate. When I asked for which credit card, he said Visa, Master, or Discover and went on with his spiel. When he said that my Experien report shows that I have $3,000 (I have $0!) of credit card debt, I interrupted him and asked him how he was able to know how much debt I had? He said my Experian report indicated I have $3K. I asked how he was able to get a copy of my Experian report. He said he works for credit card services. I asked for the name of his company-Card Member Services in Orlando FL. I took his name. When I asked for a phone number to verify his identity, we were disconnected. I redialed the number on the caller ID and it connected me to Citi and asked me to type in my account #. I don’t have a Citi card.
Comes up on caller id as Citibank but never leaves a message - 13 calls in just 3 days
