Our doctor's office received a call from 876-842-7979, stating that our office had won Publisher's Clearing House. Our secretary informed him that he had called our after hours emergency line and he just kept on saying that we won a million dollars; hilarious, considering it was a private number and not connected to any individual. Scammers.

Someone calls from this number claiming that you have won a prize and swindle you out of your identity info. prior to trying to get you to give them your credit/ debit card info. I’ve seen several different complaints, all with a similar scenario, but the paying organization or prize may be different. Regardless of the story they chose to go with, don’t fall for it, they’re trying to scam you out of money. My personal experience went something like this: A man called my work number and claimed to be calling on behalf of publishers clearing house (the caller ID info showed the callers location as Kingston, Surrey County, Jamaica... I guess they recently relocated since last I checked all of their affiliated addresses were in the U.S. SMH)... Anyway he said I won $8.5 million and that I would be contacted the following day around 1:30 pm via telephone and that someone would come to my residence around 3:30pm to present the check... I won’t hold my breath waiting for that one! LoL Oh and a word of advice, (Just in case the person responsible for these scams happens to read this), if you are going to claim to be calling from publishers clearing House, you should at least keep your number private so that caller I.D. doesn’t blow your cover! Or even better, maybe put forth the time and money to get a phone number With an area code that is designated to the same location as the company from which you claim to be calling or at least a telephone number from the same country. STILL BETTER, stop trying to rip people off! If you need (or want) $, why don’t you just say THAT? You would be surprised at how many people would willingly hand over money if you just told them the truth and asked for it! Why resort to malicious deceitful tactics? Doesn’t it make you feel bad? Empathy is very underrated, how would you feel if someone did this to you? It’s not that difficult to do the right thing!! *sigh* This kind of garbage makes it difficult not to lose faith in humanity! Come on people, w...t...f... SMH

Got a call, said they were with Publishers Clearing House. Told me info and wanted me to pay $675.00. Already knew it was a scam so I kept him on the phone for 40 minutes. Anyways, he tells me to take $675.00 in cash and put them between the pages of a magazine or a children’s book and ship it out to, the first one was Ohio, and the second was to Maryland. I lied and said the post office was closed and Walmart was too far away. They asked me where the nearest towns post office was. Very agitated when I kept saying this. Please be careful.
