Recorded message claiming to be calling on behalf of my credit card. The message gave the correct last 4 digits, and asked me to confirm that this was correct. I hung up and called the real card issuer - there was no fraudulent activity that they were aware of and they certainly did NOT issue the request to call. Recording from this number did not give a name.

To the person who received the call from 844=586-9927; it wasn't a scam but a legitimate call regarding an attempt to place a charge on your credit card. I received a similar call and oddly it was late Sunday evening. The person left a recorded message and had the same info as your caller did. I called the number on the back of my credit card for lost/stolen cards. The person reassured me that the charges had been blocked and the initial call was legitimate. They canceled my card and advised that they would issue a new card with new number. Inconvenient but was a relief to know that when there's a questionable charge attempt that they have our best interest to follow up. Hope your situation works out as well.
