I got a call from 1 (844) 302-3338. Caller ID said Cox. I'm a Cox customer. I missed the call. Called back and a man with a nearly unintelligible voice (Pakistani?) answered immediately. That told me it wasn't Cox. Every time I ever spoke with Cox I had to go thru the bot first. He knew my name. He thought he knew how long I had been with Cox, but he was wrong. But, just because I was a loyal Cox customer for so long he was offering me a free phone line. Red flag number two. Cox didn't get to be the giant it is by giving away free money and they don't call people with offers. People would be more pissed at them than they already are if they did that. But, they do have good internet service. Pricey though. I did report this scam to Cox. The real Cox.
