ALLEGIANCE TELECOM OF FLORIDA, INC.
Got unwanted call from 727-361-2879?
Another of far too many apparently fraudulent scammers pretending to be from an unnamed legal, and/or government entity; both of which are required to provide a caller ID identifier as to verify that it is indeed valid and legitimate federal, state or county government number, or a legal organization under contract with a federal, state and/or county government agency. Of course, as with most fraudulent scam organizations, obfuscation is priority number one. To identify one’s self in such circumstances s to raise the level of potential criminal charges, vis-a-vis fraudulent misrepresentation of a known government agency and/or contractor. It’s not quite fair, as the underpaid callers often are hit with the prison sentences, while the owners know who to pay, and when, to avoid the far more egregious violations. Secondly, a legitimate agency would demand Caller ID presentation in order to avoid being filtered, as was this number, earning a “high-probability” spam call label based on Verizon’s own call screening network. Ironically, Verizon does a good job in identifying government agencies, as it has been indicated that they maintain a frequently updated database of government phone numbers incorporated in the Verizon iOS app. One doesn’t need Phonelnfoga and other gimmicks available on the Kali Linux distro to figure out this (and an entire bank) of numbers are seemingly associated with the same call center. Since I didn’t answer. I recommend others do the same. Whomever is behind this gimmick, is clearly not familiar with the provisions of Title XXXIII of the Florida Statutes; nor do they realize that the numerous reports that have been made to the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC), a reply made it appear as if there were more than a passing interest in this organization. The company seems to be stirring up a multi-agency investigation. There’s certainly not enough information publicly available to ascertain how deep or wide scale the investigation is, or is not It’s not a good business practice to be tooling around with fraudulent or suspicious communications — given that the US and European/Australian major cyber security black and grey Cyber Security Threat Assessment and Resolution sites are on the highest alert status.
