I started getting these 666-xxx-xxxx number calls, including the one above recently when I was online looking for healthcare quotes. I made a huge mistake by putting my number in with my information. All I wanted was a generated cost to make comparisons.The next morning it started and hasn't ended yet. Good thing I have them mostly blocked on my phone now. However, the said thing is. Nothing can really be done about it. Being the telecommunications guy I am. I have worked on my big systems where a carrier like AT&T can give you the option for you or them producing the A.N.I. (automatic number identification) or better know as Caller I.D.. This is regulated by the FCC. If I even inputted one number thats not in their phone bill for outbound caller I.D. I could face Federal charges. The false numbers on this list are generated from calls made over a highly encrypted hosted IP telephony service that is NOT regulated by the F.C.C. So they can do as they please. I will be real hard stopping this in the future even with regulations.
