This is to collect a debt that is beyond the statutes of limitations to sue you or to put a mark on your credit. If you agree to pay, make a payment or make a charge on the old debt it will start the clock over. Your best bet is to IGNORE these calls. Especially because they threaten you. You can however SUE THEM if they make statements such as claiming they are going to sue you, freeze your accounts or there is a warrant for your arrest. You can contact an attorney who will sue them and take a fee for the trouble of doing so. You can also report them to the attorney general of the state they operate within. That is if you can get them to give you information about themselves. They usually won't unless you tell them who you are. At least this is how they've operated in the past when I've tried to gather information about who they are. They hang up when I ask or tell them that I won't verify who I am until they verify who they are with an address and the owner or officers of the company.
