Exact thing happened to my 80 year old mother from NJ. first call was a fretful call from a grandson she does not even have, saying he needs to be bailed out of jail from being in an accident. They asked for $8,370 in cash in a wrapped plastic bag. They told her to call Daniel Rosenberg at the Reading PA Public Defenders office when she had the cash at 484-324-6445. When I called it was clearly a scam. They were even brazen enough to call her back looking for the money. In the meantime I have logged this call with the Pennsylvania State Police Troop L. This was the most elaborate scam i have seen played to date. The county of Berks PA is vulnerable as no one is picking up the phones. Reading Police Department has also been notified. When I called back again, they had blocked my number
I too got a call but this time it was different. A first call came from 800-353-1056 and it was some guy pretending to be a grand son and how he got into a car wreck (he was crying) and hit a pregnant woman. He gave me a case # and said that PA public defenders office is going to call me with bail information. THEN this 484-324-6445 calls me back to try and collect the funds. After Nicole Wise hung up on me, I called back and it has a fake message asking to leave a message at the Public Defenders Office with the case #. TOTAL SCAM!!!

Received a call on a business line from 484-324-6783. The caller asked for the finance department. I asked for the caller's name and call back number. She asked me to repeat the question. I asked for her name and call back number again. She hung up on me.

I first got a call pretending to be my daughter and she was in jail and had a car accident and she needed to get out of jail. Same story as above, his a pregnant woman and broke her nose. I then got a call from 484-324-6445, .calm, articulate woman, Nichole Wise claiming to be a public defender and that my daughter was in jail and she needed to be bailed out. While this woman had me on the phone I was able to verify, my daughter was not in jail. Total scam.
