Received a call from these scammers saying they are from Spectrum IT and the service box was updating. They needed $200 upfront to continue services. I just laughed and said not "gonna happen" and hung up!
Claimed to be comcast and wanted my serial and model of my box which they would have and know that it being used at my location there is no need to confirm it.
Just got a call saying ATT/DirecTV would reduce my bill by 50% discount if I paid up front .Hung up. Called yesterday from 760-487-7897.
Claimed they where from Comcast, wanted CC over phone for "TV Box Update" Got really upset when I called them scammers.
Calls daily. Pretends to be DirecTV. States the satellite in space had been replaced so our current devices wouldn't work. She has to send new devices but will give rebates. Asked my grandfather that she calls if I could speak to her. I stated that we would contact DirecTV directly to confirm anything. She stated that I was uneducated, we had words and I hung up. She called back. She left a long voicemail telling my grandpa that I was stupid, that we didn't know who we were messing with and that now there will be a $250 charge on our next bill.
2-5-21 Rec'd a call on my land line from John Fisher stating he could give me a 24 mo. Extension on my Spectrum for about $50. Less than current charges. Told me to mail a check for February charges at new rate to Smart Move Ser, P.O. Box 7169, Jersey City, NJ 07307. Include Discount Code 007126931. Suggest block phone number.
I got a call from "Ben Taylor" from this number. He said he was with a company representing Spectrum (my local internet and cable TV company) He offered me a deal to pay in advance for 4 months of service and they would add two more months free. He later told me his company was "Smartmove Service". He sent me an e-mail which said it was from "Charter Spectrum, The Promotional and Loyalty Department". I wrote and mailed a check. Being suspicious, I called Spectrum, and also checked-out Smartmove Service. Spectrum denied the existence of "The Promotional and Loyalty Department" or any such offer on their behalf. There is a company called Smartmove Service, which may be legitimate. But this was not them. I stopped payment on my check--hopefully in time.
Someone called claiming to be Dish Network and wanted to update our equipment. I got suspicious. (402) 769-2425
