Just got the same call representing Comcast/Xfinity. Same story and they wanted a check for $249.93. If I sent that check or money order my January and February bills would be free. Very sketchy people! When I was transferred to the supervisor and I told him I had just googled the number and was reading that this call was a scam, he started yelling at me. Just called Comcast/Xfinity and reported the fraudulent cal to them as well.
Maureen Calvey Go Fuck your self
Oh yeah, I got to talk to Jason Roy too, supervisor from Spectrum, but my one time “Deposit” was only $219.93, I still need to send them my check, he even asked for the check number I was sending, then asked for my cell phone number. I kept listening for something that was legit, they even called me back too, they are calling tomorrow too. I have the P.O. Box # I think they want some magazine subscriptions:lol. Cable T.V. Upgrade department, P.O. Box 940746, Plano Tx. 75094.
I received a call purporting to be from Verizon. They told me that they needed to upgrade my cable box. The call was breaking up. I told them I was in the middle of something and needed a number to call them back because I was too busy. I then hung up. "Supervisor" then called me right back and asked why I hung up. LOL! He gave me # 325.455.3702. I immediately Googled the number, and it showed up on this Scam site. First off, I'm not doing anything or giving any info to a cold caller. Secondly, tech companies are savvy enough to make receiver upgrades internally.
received a call from "Jason Roy" today. Wanted me to turn my cable box on because a new frequency change in our area.....and if I did not do this in the next 2 hours, I would forever lose service. I told him I thought it was a scam and hung up.
You are fools
I have received the same call from "Michael John" several times. He tells me that they need to upgrade our cable box and to turn the t.v. on. Told him I couldn't because the electric was out from the storm. He called me a liar and hung up. He called again this morning asking me how many televisions we had in our home. I told him 5. He started questioning me why we have so many televisions. Then asks me for my first name, I told him you have my information you should have my first name. He gave me my husbands name. I told him that if he was from Direct TV she should know that my name is on our account not my husbands. Then he said yes, your name is Patricia. I told him that's not the name in the account. The name on the account is Patty, but I never told him that. I just hung up. He called right back and our daughter who is 37 answered the phone and he called her by her first name, so they have some kind of directory that has everyone living at our address name. She gave him the run around and hung up. He called back again and told her he was going to come F**K her up and cut off our cable & phone!! She just hung up again. Scammers, they think we are all fools.....
Called representing Mediacom, and they had my name and address information. They offered a $50/mo reduced monthly charge, and that I needed to front a $299 security fee. The caller was foreign with very broken english, and he and his supervisor were very rude when challenged.
Got a call from "Victor Adams" who says he's from NY but all the people I could hear in the background had Indian accents including himself. Says I owe money to Dish Network but I've already contacted them and do not owe a dime. "Victor" is very rude and aggressive.
I GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER CLAIMING TO BE XFINITY. WHEN THEY ASKED HOW MANY BOXES I HAD I SAID YOU SHOULD KNOW THEY GOT VERY HOSTILE. I HUNG UP. THEY CALLED BACK LEFT MESSAGE ON MACHINE CALLING ME A MF SLUT AND ON AND ON A SON OF A BI..CH. VERY NASTY.
Same as preceding complaints. The caller was a Michael John who claimed to be calling with a "Free" Software Upgrade from DISH Network. While on the phone he said the upgrade was already being installed that I needed to send a check to a P.O. Box in Plano TX and that my account would be credited for October and November. I called DISH Network directly and they said they had no upgrades available at this time and if they did they would contact me directly via e-mail and/or US Mail. I provided everything I had to their Fraud Department so hopefully they can shut this down.
Called claiming to be Mediacom and needed me to turn off our main tv for 45 minutes while they made a free software update. For being a loyal customer they were going to give me a $30 discount for the next 2 years. I told them I wanted more of a discount and was transferred to a "supervisor". Who now agreed to give me a $70 discount for 2 years, but I would need to send them a check of money order for $265.93 as a security deposit as an assurity that I wouldn't just take the discount and leave Mediacom. I asked if this would be added to my bill and they said no they would give me a mailing address. Then I started questioning this person if the call was even legit and she started arguing with me because I was refusing to pay the security amount. She called me mean and I hung up. Called Mediacom and reported the fraudulent call.
I live in NH. I just got a call that caller I'd said was from 603-751-1985. The caller said they were Comcast. They said their service number was 325-455-3702. I got the lines about updates and discounts, but the line quality was very poor and I hung up for a better "callback" before it got to the send-money part. That was the end of that.
My 82 year old mother got a call from this number, claiming to be from Spectrum cable company, and they asked her to send a money order for $199 to a PO Box in Albuquerque NM to receive a discount on her cable. The man said his name was "Michael John" and left the return phone number. When I called it back and spoke to him about it, I told him I thought it was a scam. He became irate, used extreme profanity, and threatened to come kill me and my mother.
Same as above - obvious scam but persistent caller
Individuals called pretending to be Spectrum or cable TV provider. They indicated that I was due for a software upgrade. After that pretend procedure, they informed me that I qualified for a 2-year discount on my bill. I was instructed to mail a check or money order ($210.95) to: Cable TV PO Box 30025 Brooklyn NY 11230 Thankfully, I called my provider to verify the scam before taking any action. They did not ask for any info but the “software update” scenario was clever and it was a smooth way of getting someone to spend more time with them on the phone.
