Got a call on my work phone asking for the HR dept. for a different company. Absolutely a scam.
Got a call asking me if I charged $1400. and I did not. Showed American Express on the caller ID. I asked him to give me the last 4 digits of the card that was charged, and he said that he can only give me the first 4 digits. EVERYBODY has those first 4 digits on their cards! I guess he thought that I was stupid. I then called AMEX from the phone number on the back of my card to make sure that there was no charge for $1400. There was not. What is highly unusual about this scam is the phone number is a legit phone number of AMEX. God knows how they pulled that one off. But beware!
This was a very bizarre call. He wanted to rent one of our facilities and did not seem to know anything about where I work and kept asking the same question over and over. When I told him who he needed to contact, he would repeat the same question. His accent was extremely thick and difficult to understand.
Pretending to be UPS- upset when told they had the wrong #. Hung up
Received a call from this number on Saturday, 3/8/2025 @2:57pm. Did not leave a message - just let the work answering machine play for 4 seconds, then hung up.
