they're buying very old charge off / collection accounts for pennies on the dollar and trying to sound official - I went through a divorce 9 years ago, and let a few cards go to charge off. I have since established fantastic credit scores of 740 plus for all three bureaus....do NOT talk to these folks or they'll damage your credit
I called the number back and advised I missed a call from this number. The guy who answered told me "you should have answered the phone when I called" and then hung up. I called back and he continued to be rude, never telling me who he was trying to reach or what the call was in reference to. They answer the call "Account Management"
Scammer pretending to be lawyers. Would not give me any information and they wanted to know my name and number.
Called but did not leave message and this came right after I reported a suspicious text to the FTC for bank fraud.

This number calls me on my cell phone and says they have a case against me, but they use a last name I have not used in 12 years and if I want info I can push 9 and speak to a representative. This very rude man answers and says a name of the company and I cannot understand or hear what he said so I say, I'm sorry, what did you say the name of the company was? and he automatically fires back at me with You called me, what do you want? And I said, actually you called me so please dont be rude and he hangs up. I then call back and say ok this time I did call you now what can I help you with and the guy just starts screaming at me to shut up and listen to him and I say no you listen to me and he hangs up again! Needless to say my blood pressure is skyrocketing right now and I have every intention of making sure this does not happen again to myself or to anyone else. In fact, he has no idea who he just called or who I really am. He should be really careful about the numbers that he randomly calls, the person on the other end of the line just might be law enforcement.
