Complaints about Phone Numbers202-457-####

This 202-457-4518 called me today and the man with heavy Indian accent identified himself as "Alan Smith" from the "National Institute of Health Dept in Washington DC and stated he was calling because the government was giving out stipend grants to various groups of people and I qualified to receive such grant in the amount of $14566.00." When I asked him to repeat that one because he was hard to understand and I was also writing it all down, I then asked him, "why would I qualify for such a grant and he said he wasn't part of the people who made those decisions, his job was to inform the winners of the grants." So he proceeded to verify my name, my address and even my date of birth and then said he was putting his grant supervisor on the line to get the final processing finished and he gave me his badge ID# AND his phone # which the number he gave me was 646-470-4179 (a new york area code mind you)...After a brief pause another heavy accented man got on the line and said "so Angela are you excited about your good news today? and my reply was I don't know yet, you tell me, I am still waiting to see". He instantly turned hostile and aggressive and told me that I was dumb and stupid if I wasn't going to be happy about recieving this grant. He then tried playing reverse psychology by stating "I know there are a lot of scams out there but we are a legit company. You don't have to send any money, you do not have to go buy any prepaid cards, etc." So I let him continue and told him he better tone it down or i was hanging up because I knew it was to good to be true,our government doesn't just give $ away like that. So he then told me he would prove it to me if all I had to do was "GIVE HIM MY BANKING INFORMATION, AND IT WOULD BE DIRECT DEPOSITED WITHING 48HRS". ,,,,I told him he was CRAZY...I wasn't giving him my banking info...esp in this day and age with identity left and stuff. I told him if they were so legit they could send me paperwork about the grant in the mail and mail me my check and he continued to yell profanities at me and I hung up. He then proceeded to call me back twice from a different number that came up a cell # out of Indianapolis, IN. I told him if he called me again, I was calling the authorities and he laughed at me and said "yea good luck with that. .....watch out for these snakes....such con artists and when you question them they get mean.

When I asked the guy how I got put on his list, he said, "fuck you" and hung up!
